PLA

Polylactic acid (PLA) is a new type of biodegradable material made from starch raw materials proposed from renewable plant resources such as corn. Starch raw materials are fermented to produce lactic acid, which is then converted into polylactic acid through chemical synthesis. It has good biodegradability and can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature after use, ultimately generating carbon dioxide and water without polluting the environment. This is very beneficial for protecting the environment and is recognized as an environmentally friendly material.

Application Features
Biodegradability
PLA can be completely decomposed by microorganisms in the natural environment into carbon dioxide and water. The degradation cycle usually lasts for 6 to 12 months. Compared with traditional petroleum-based plastics (such as polyethylene), it does not release toxic gases such as sulfides or nitrates during incineration. 
Physical and Mechanical Properties 
Mechanical properties: Tensile strength 40-60 MPa, bending modulus 100-150 MPa, elastic modulus 3000-4000 MPa, approaching the performance level of polypropylene (PP) and PET plastics;
Processing adaptability: Melting point is relatively low (about 176-220°C), suitable for blow molding, thermoplastic processing, 3D printing and other processes, and during the printing process, it has little odor and is not prone to warping;
Appearance characteristics: Transparency and glossiness are comparable to polystyrene, and it supports customization in various colors.
Special functions 
Antibacterial property: PLA is the only biodegradable plastic with significant antibacterial and antifungal properties, and it is highly safe;
Biocompatibility: The degradation products can be absorbed by the human body and are widely used in the medical field (such as surgical sutures, drug sustained-release agents)
