EMA
EMA is a high-pressure alpha olefin copolymer with excellent thermal stability, flexibility, adhesive properties, and low-temperature performance. It usually appears as a milky white semi transparent solid, with good toughness, elasticity, dimensional stability, electrical performance, cold resistance, aging resistance, and other characteristics. EMA is mainly prepared by polymerization reaction using MA monomer and ethylene gas as raw materials, and adding oxygen or oxide as initiator in a high-pressure reactor. EMA has a wide range of applications, including film, extrusion adhesive, sheet, molding, blow molding, pipe profile extrusion, and co extrusion. It can also be used as a toughening agent and compatibilizer to improve the performance of other engineering plastics

Application Features
The density of EMA is approximately 0.93 - 0.95 g/cm³. The melting point decreases with the increasecontent (usually 75 - 105 °C). The glass transition temperature (Tg) is about -20 °C and it has excellent low-temperature impact resistance. The range of its melt flow rate (MFR, 190/2.16 kg) is wide (1 - 50 g/10 min). The high MFR type has good fluidity and is suitable for coating or film extrusion; the low MFR type has higher strength and is suitable for injection molding or modification and toughening. In addition, the tensile strength of EMA is approximately 8 - 20 MPa, and the elongation at break can reach 500% - 800%. It has excellent tear resistance.

Applications:
 

1) Packaging materials: As extrusion coating resin, it has good adhesion to PE, PP, PA, PVDC and other substrates. It can provide an excellent balance in the co-extrusion sandwich layer between LDPE and EVA as well as on the surface of the substrate. It can enhance the tear resistance and puncture resistance of packaging materials, and improve the tensile strength of the film. It is suitable for easy-to-peel films and multi-layer co-extrusion packaging for food packaging, etc. It is also used in steel-plastic, aluminum-plastic composite belts, composite packaging, easy-to-peel packaging films and bags, etc. 
2) Polymer modification: It is used as compatibilizer and toughening agent for various polymers such as ABS, PA, PC, PBT, PET, PP,, PPO, etc., to enhance low-temperature flexibility and toughness, bending resistance, and improve the impact resistance of the products, as well as alleviate the cracking and fragility problems. It also has excellent compatibilization and toughening effects for alloys such as PC/ABS, PC/PBT, PC/PET, PBT/ABS, and PET/PBT. 
3) Foaming materials and automotive sound insulation materials: For dry production of foaming materials, they possess characteristics such as uniform foaming, softness, and high temperature resistance. They can also be cross-linked. When blended with PP and PE, their foaming performance can be improved. 
4) Halogen-free flame-retardant materials: These materials possess high strength, high toughness, and high-temperature resistance. They can be filled with high amounts of halogen-free flame-retardants to enhance the compatibility of various components in the system. They are used in the production of low-smoke halogen-free flame-retardant cable materials, heat shrinkable tubes, flame-retardant ABS and other products. 
5) EMA can be directly injection-molded to produce durable and soft-to-the-touch, high-strength products such as toys and other consumer goods. 
6) Dispersants for fillers: The dispersion modification of various inorganic fillers and glass fibers is carried out to increase the filling ratio. At the same time, the coloring performance, processing fluidity, printing and welding performance are effectively improved. 
7) Medical and health care products: As a blown film resin, the peelable/sealing layer has excellent low-temperature heat sealing performance. It can be used to produce soft and elastic films, low-melting-point packaging bags, disposable gloves, medical disinfection cover cloths, etc. 
8) Bonding Performance: Enhances the performance of elastomer rubberized materials, such as bonding PC, PE, PP, PS, PA, PET, , ABS and metals with glass; it is also widely used in the production of hot melt adhesives, for instance, in packaging or book binding. 
9) Cold Resistance: It is used in PVC to enhance cold resistance, improve toughness and prevent the release of plasticizers.
